Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh blackberries
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking pan with parchment paper.

2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt.

3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

4. In a separate bowl, beat the egg and vanilla extract together.

Notes

For cleaner slices, chill the bars for 30 minutes before cutting.

Frozen blackberries can be used; thaw and drain excess liquid first.
