Description

These Chicken Street Tacos are a flavorful and satisfying dish featuring juicy marinated chicken thighs, fresh toppings, and soft corn tortillas—perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or Taco Tuesday.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1½ lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8–10 soft corn tortillas
  • ½ cup chopped white onion
  • ½ cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • Lime wedges
  • Optional: sliced avocado or guacamole
  • Optional: pickled red onions
  • Optional: salsa verde

Instructions

1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together lime juice, olive oil, garlic, cumin, chili powder, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Add chicken thighs and toss to coat. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.

2. Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook marinated chicken for 5–7 minutes on each side until fully cooked and lightly charred.

3. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before slicing into thin strips.

4. Warm corn tortillas in a dry skillet for about 20–30 seconds on each side.

5. Assemble tacos by adding sliced chicken to each tortilla, then top with chopped onion and cilantro.

6. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the tacos and add any optional toppings as desired.

Notes

Marinating longer enhances flavor—up to 4 hours is ideal.

Use chicken breasts if preferred, but thighs provide more flavor and juiciness.

Warm tortillas just before serving to keep them soft and pliable.

Customize toppings to your taste with cheese, sour cream, or hot sauce.
