Description

Fall off the bone oven baked ribs seasoned with a flavorful dry rub, baked low and slow for tenderness, and finished under the broiler with caramelized BBQ sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 racks baby back pork ribs (about 4 pounds total)
  • 4 teaspoons paprika (sweet)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 275°F and line a large rimmed baking sheet with foil.

2. Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs if present.

3. Place ribs on the prepared baking sheet, meaty side up.

4. In a small bowl, mix paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, salt, and pepper.

5. Rub the spice mixture evenly over the ribs.

6. Cover the ribs tightly with foil, sealing well.

7. Bake for 3 to 3 1/2 hours until ribs are very tender.

8. Remove from oven and preheat broiler to low.

9. Discard foil and brush ribs generously with BBQ sauce.

10. Broil for 2 to 4 minutes until sauce caramelizes, watching closely to prevent burning.

11. Let ribs rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

You can substitute spare ribs, St. Louis-style ribs, or country-style ribs with similar cook times.

To check doneness, the meat should easily pull away from the bone.

To reheat, cover ribs with foil and warm in a 250°F oven for 15–30 minutes until heated through.

Slow reheating helps retain moisture and tenderness.
